Protect FAMU’s Legacy & Future

Summary

As a public HBCU and land-grant institution, FAMU’s success is tied to policies, funding, and leadership decisions at all levels. We must ensure all alumni are actively engaged in advocating for the university's future.

Key Initiatives

Mobilize Alumni Advocacy Year-Round

  • Coordinate our efforts between the University and our Governmental Relations Committee to strategically monitor state and federal policies potentially impacting FAMU.
  • Provide alumni with advocacy toolkits to easily contact legislators and engage in public policy discussions.

Expand FAMU Alumni Influence in Policy & Governance

  • Strengthen alumni coordination and participation to influence selection of FAMU’s Board of Trustees members and key University leaders.
  • Build coalitions with other HBCU alumni associations to advocate for broader funding and policy protections.

Host a “FAMU Day on Capitol Hill” in Washington, D.C.

Collaborate with University officials to expand legislative outreach to engage all U.S. elected officials, ensuring FAMU’s voice is heard at the national level.

Impact

By educating, mobilizing, and empowering alumni, we will protect FAMU’s legacy, ensure policy decisions benefit the university, and secure its future success.
